I love flowering plants a lot but somehow, I always felt I can’t manage them well. And somehow flowering plants never survived at my home for a long time until I found some varieties that are easy to grow and sustain as well at home. Sharing my experience and tricks and tips about managing these 8 Flowering house plants to grow in India.
- Peace Lilly- This is a beautiful plant with white flowers and can be kept indoors as well. The shiny dark green leaves and spoon-shaped white flowers make this hardy houseplant a must-have. With very little care and the right conditions, these plants last for many years. Usually, Peace lilies prefer low to moderate light but they bloom beautifully with bright filtered light. They prefer moist soil but not a soggy one. They are a very low maintenance plant and a great option to grow in the house. The flowers of peace lily are lightly scented, but close proximity is required to notice it. It will flower in even the shadiest of homes.
- Begonia- Begonia can grow indoor and outdoor both. They make an excellent house plant. If maintained well they will easily grow and bloom continuously. They need a brightly lit place but not harsh light. They need regular watering but don’t overwater as it can lead to root rot.
- Orchids- Orchids are my favorite flower as once they bloom, they stay as it is for a long time. They may appear very fragile but they are very strong flowers. They’ll bloom for months and can live for years with little care. They like bright and indirect light. You need to water once a week until it drains out of the bottom of the pot.
- Poinsettias– These are a beautiful flower that gives holiday feeling with its bright colors. They can bloom for months with the right care. Water when dry to the touch, and don’t let it sit in water inside the foil pot cover. They may or may not bloom every year so better to replace the plant.
- Kalanchoe- This is a beautiful variety of succulent that blooms in bright colored flowers. They have glossy and thick leaves and flowers come in different shades of red, yellow, pink, and orange. They like bright indirect light and prefer to be watered when the soil is dry to touch. It does best in bright indirect light and prefers to dry out between watering. It blooms occasionally again next year. Occasionally, it will bloom again next year. Kalanchoe is native to the tropics and while it is a lovely plant in bloom, it is difficult to get it to rebloom outside of its native range.
- Jasmine- These are beautifully fragrant plants with lovely flowers. They love warmer climates to grow well. All jasmine plants prefer sun to light shade sites with well-draining and moderately fertile soil. You can keep this in your house in a bright area, windowsill is best if it gets good sunlight during the day. You can add fertilizer to the plant in the spring season right before the growth appears. Since potted plants do not have access to extra nutrition from the soil on the ground, you need to add fertilizer to them twice annually.
- Anthurium- These heart-shaped plants come in a variety of different colors like red, white, pink, or purple. They are also easy to grow indoors and bloom year-round. They thrive well with indirect light, humid weather, and moist soil. Be careful though with these pretty plants are also poisonous if accidentally ingested, so parents and pet owners be wary! Also, keep an eye on watering, don’t overwater. They are indeed Beautiful Flowering house plants
- Hibiscus- Hibiscus is a stunning plant that adapts well to the right indoor environment. Its large flowers last only a few days, but it typically stays in bloom from spring to fall, and it lives for several years (typically, at least). Give it bright light to keep it blooming, and keep the soil evenly moist in summer, somewhat dry in winter.

Thanks for this list. I don’t get a lot of direct sunlight, so I will try these plants.
Cannot imagine a garden without jasmines and hibiscus. Would like to add the others to my garden as well. I did not know orchids are strong plants.
