It seems like yesterday when I was taking votes from my family and friends on my blogs name. While I had the top 5 names in mind Lifethrumyeyes seemed the most appropriate one. I strongly believe that “The face is a picture of the mind with the eyes as its interpreter.” And that’s why Lifethrumyeyes was born.
My Blogging Journey
Having quit my full-time job of around 8 years gave me a constant itch to do something constructive. All these years while I was working, I would often write things here and there and was always contemplating on how I can do this better. So, this break from a full-time job gave me the bandwidth to begin my journey with Lifethrumyeyes.
The genesis behind my blog is the fact that I love to observe and analyse things around me. I am always fascinated by unknown life’s stories, love to meet new people, has an urge to tell stories, appreciate the love of my family and friends, strongly value the sacrifices and wisdom of older generations. I see endless possibilities and strongly believe in the power of hope. And with this hope in my mind and life, it’s been over 5 years that I have been sharing my experience, life’s stories and learnings on my blog.
How is it going today?
These 5 years have been filled with a lot of learnings for me. Some enriching experiences of working with brands and ways to make earnings from the blog. I have seen quite a lot of ups and downs. There have been days when I wanted to just quit and not continue with my blog but motivation kept coming my way in some or another way. And this has been the one and only thing in life that made me feel the peace in my soul.
My writing has become more fluent and has been able to think more clearly now. Ideas, thoughts and ways to express them in words have become a little easier for me now. And all the love received from my readers is like a cherry on the top. Over a period of time and the last two years of covid has made me realise that life is more than precious and how we choose to live is in our own hands. And I chose good mental health to live a better life and this has been one of the main goals of my writings of late. Promoting good mental health and its importance. Thankful to a lot of my readers who have appreciated my mental health articles and fellow bloggers who gave me the confidence to pursue this full-on.
In order to help the new bloggers and people looking to have their own website sharing a few quick tips and tricks to make this journey fruitful for others and be of as much help as possible.
- Becoming a blogger– If you are seriously looking to become a blogger then chart out a detailed plan. Start a blog only if you have a keen interest in writing or you have a team who would write for you. Blogging is not like an escape route from a mundane day night job, it requires more passion and peace of mind.
- Content is the king- To make your blog a successful one you will need good and high-quality content. There are a lot of blogs existing on the web but not all see the light of the day as their content might not be that great. So, work on your writing skills, vocabulary, sentence formation and ideation mainly on regular basis to reach newer heights every day. Spend enough time reading as reading adds a new dimension to how you write and express. Most of my writings are inspired by books I read and things I value in the real world. Thankfully I have some wonderful friends who are my best critic too when it comes to writing.
So, make connections with fellow bloggers, learn from each other and also get inspired by what others are writing.
- Working with brands- Don’t start blogging to be able to earn immediately. As it won’t happen immediately. It takes a lot of sweat and energy to make the blog worth earning from. It requires a lot of regular writing, keeping up with the trends, covering various categories and being able to maintain content across categories as well. I still remember the time when I had started writing I had a few influencers I looked up to both nationally and internationally. After regularly reading through the work of some of the established bloggers I decided on my route map and began with the journey. And over a period of time when the blog earns a decent amount of authority in the market, you can approach brands directly for the niche you write on.
- Write Regularly- To be able to make a mark for yourself and your blog you need to write regularly. At least 3 pieces of good well-researched content is a must. While writing may come naturally to you but research is important to build a loyal follower base. People come on google to
- Improving DA & PA- Well, this is the key to success and I learnt it the hard way. Most of the brands when looking to collaborate with you might look at your DA (Domain Authority) and PA (Page Authority). These are both very hard to earn and there is no shortcut to achieving this. Regular writing, SEO based well-researched content, good backlinks are some of the factors that affect the DA and PA in a positive manner.
It’s imperative that you give in your best shot to blogging. Regular writing, reading and setting a routine to write is imperative. Also, do not consider blogging as a part-time job, it takes your full determination and attention to have a successful stint at being a blogger. Make a plan, a route map, from where you want to start to what you want to achieve for yourselves. Have a short term and a long-term goal for your blog and accordingly work on it. Constantly revisiting your content and adding in various elements helps too, diversify yourself into different categories and open channels of different opportunities too.
With this blog, I have widened my observation which was earlier limited to close friends and family or the pages of my personal diary. Social media has taken a deep place in the lives of everyone, However, even then, I find that people want quick news- nothing too deep and nothing too long. This blog expands my ability to collaborate and reach out to others with similar interests and also help other parents or to be parents with my experience.
