So let me take you through this post that is about everything you need to know about Roses.
How to grow rose plant and tips to care for it
- Roses basically need a lot of sunlight so ensure they are kept in sunlight for at least 6 hours a day.
- Use soil that has good drainage capacity. So, you could use a mixture of normal soil, cocopeat, and perlite.
- Add a 2-3-inch layer of coarse, organic mulch around roses. Coarse mulch helps reduce foliage diseases on roses because it reduces the amount of water splashing onto leaves.
- Water often enough to create consistently moist soil – not overly wet, not too dry. To prevent diseases, keep foliage dry, especially if you must water late in the day.
- Keep a check on roses for insects or disease outbreaks. Early detection of problems can help cure the insects.
- For an impressive show of flowers, a rose bush needs to be fertilized regularly. Organic methods provide a slow, steady supply of nutrients.
- Regularly prune the rose plant for healthy growth.

When I had a garden in Dehradun, we used to grow roses in the summers. Every colour – red, white, yellow, pink. It used to be such a delight!
