Us mothers have always been focused on giving the best nutrition to our children to boost their immunity from within. Starting from the most important meal of the day- breakfast, to the time we are closing our day with a sumptuous and power-packed dinner, we try and add all the elements of nutrition to boost the child’s immunity from within. However, not many are aware of what exactly is required to do this and how to build internal resilience in Indian kids.
So, what exactly do I mean by building internal resilience in kids? Well, it’s quite simple. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from stress, any trauma, or ill-health. Making your child strong internally will also help them cope with mental and emotional stress. Kids are not born with resilience, but we as parents can play a huge role in helping them develop this and lead a healthy and happy life.
So, how can you make your child strong from within?
With both my kids I have always focused on giving them age-appropriate nutrition that is packed with vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Although protein is one of the most important nutrients, especially during the growth years of the child, all nutrients are required to build the inner resilience of a child. We can boost the internal resilience by ensuring that a balanced diet, rich in all nutrients, is consumed by the child every day.
Here is a break up of how various nutrients play an important role when it comes to building resilience in Indian kids.
- Proteins help in building muscles- Not that your child has to show off his muscles 😊 but having protein in the required quantity daily helps in building the body’s immune system, especially healing & recovery.
- Carbohydrates are necessary for a healthy body – Carbs fuel your body & provide energy.
- Vitamin A helps regulate the immune system and protect the body against infections by keeping skin and tissues in the mouth, stomach, intestines and respiratory system healthy
- Vitamin C helps protect the body from infection by stimulating the formation of antibodies and supporting immune health.
- Vitamin E works as an antioxidant, neutralizes free radicals, and may improve immune function.
- Vitamin D is key to a strong defense for the body.
- Zinc helps the immune system work properly.
- Other nutrients, including vitamin B6, folate, selenium, iron, as well as probiotics, probiotics, also may influence proper immune responses.
Now that we know these nutrients are important, we also need to know the right quantity required by the child. Just because something is good for the body, doesn’t mean we should give it in excess. Anything extra can cause adverse effects too. As children grow in age the quantity of nutrients required by them changes. Since the diet is an essential component of growth, the ideal requirement for the children should be fulfilled daily.
My elder one starts her day with PediaSure which in itself is power-packed and helps in providing complete nutrition and a good amount of high quality protein too. With the regular consumption of PediaSure by my daughter, I can say that PediaSure certainly supports immunity & gives Visible Growth. This along with a well-balanced diet can ensure the child becomes strong from within.
Today, the food habits of kids are dominated by junk and fast food often depriving them of the important nutrition that is vital to their growth and development. With a little bit of innovation in your child’s daily diet, you can ensure that your child gets a complete dose of all healthy nutrients every day.
