I also feel math is not a subject but life skills and should be taught with fun activities with examples on daily basis. Once the foundation is good math is one of the easy subject to learn.

Agreed, Maths is not only an academic subject that one needs to learn to score marks. But the process of learning mathematics and the application of the concepts helps the functioning of the brain. As education counselors, we insist every student study mathematics till grade 12 now, the reason being everything in today’s world is centered around data so the knowledge and the application of mathematical concepts are very critical for career growth and thus it’s important that maths is introduced to a young learner in a manner which captivates his interest and does not become a burden.

You are right, Math is not one of the favorite subjects among kids. The main reason is the fear of getting the answers wrong. Great read Rakhi. Vibhu’s favorite subject is Math’s and I guess the reason is because Maths is everywhere around us. We use it every day and you dont need to write pages for practice. True that If we know the concepts, there is no way kids can feel bored or confused.
I’m not a big fan of maths but both my kids love it. I agree that it can be made interesting with fun games, regular practice and also practical application.
